A Father's Day Letter

My daughter wrote this letter to our local newspaper on why her dad should be Father of the Year. I thought I would share it with you.

Dear Hill Country News,

It is going to be hard to tell you how much my dad means to me. There are so many good qualities that he has, and there are so many good things that he has done for me, that I don’t think I can fit them all, into a letter. I love my dad so much that I will have to use a paragraph for each reason.

My dad cares. My dad cares about my mom, and me and my siblings. And he says, “I love you.” very often.

My dad is very funny. He can turn any awkward situation into a laughing matter. And he laughs at mine and my siblings jokes however stupid or corny they are. Whenever anyone is feeling sad or frustrated or even depressed my dad can make a joke fitting to the occasion and make that person laugh.

My dad cares about mine and my siblings future. He always wants the best for his kids. My dad wants us to be world changers in our own way. He doesn’t expect us to grow up and become a computer programmer just like him.

My dad always has time for me. No matter what if I ever want to talk, get advice, or even just chatter. My dad is there to listen to me.

My dad is interested in my life. He cares about my interests. Whenever I come home from a class my dad is there to talk about what happened.

My dad is a Christian. That means a lot to me. He always tries to set a good example. He wants his kids to love god with all their heart, soul, and mind.

My dad always puts me before stuff. If I accidentally break something my dad will forgive me.

I really, truly, think my dad is top quality. Sure, he’s not perfect, who is? But he’s as close to perfect as you can get.

Have a happy Father's Day!

Sheri
