We've heard you can save money by getting your hair cut at home, but this is ridiculous. What is the fascination some kids have with cutting their hair?
Back when she was 5, our oldest daughter found some scissors and cut her bangs off right in the center. Practically down to the scalp. It took a loooong time for them to grow back.
Now, our middle daughter is 2 and a half, and its her turn, apparently. The other day, she walked into the living room holding some scissors. I just figured the kids were doing a craft of some sort. Then she turned around. "Her hair looks ... different," I thought. I looked behind her and saw a small pile of hair on the floor. NOT AGAIN!
Luckily, this child has only removed hair from the back, where it's not nearly as noticeable. She just has a sort of layered look ... it might even be fashionable. Ok, maybe not, but it's not horrible.
The problem is that she keeps trying to do it more. Not long ago I saw her sneaking some scissors off the table where the others were doing crafts. I asked, "What are you doing with those scissors?" She looked at me simply and honestly and said, "Cut my hair," as though that were the most normal and natural thing for her to be doing with scissors, silly Daddy.
I can explain and explain to her that it's not a good idea, but I don't know if I'll get through to a 2 year old that's just not mature enough to get it. So for her sake, we're putting up the scissors for awhile until her morbid fascination with hair removal passes.
The family adventure continues ... :-)
