What is DenimJumpers.com?
DenimJumpers.com is being built to be the most useful site on the web for homeschoolers. At its core, DenimJumpers.com is a directory of links to sites that are helpful on a variety of subjects. In addition to the directory, we are also a powerful search engine to help you locate just what you're looking for. Finally, we also offer community support, helpful subject guides, and valuable shopping links. All these resources, as well as more we're still working on, are intended to make your lives as homeschoolers easier. There's a wealth of helpful material on the Internet, but the trouble has always been FINDING it among the irrelevant, the incorrect, and the just plain immoral. That's where DenimJumpers.com comes in.
Here you'll find:
- resources we've personally reviewed
- an unashamedly Christian worldview
- a helpful, supportive atmosphere
Who Are You Guys?
Sheri and Paul Lee founded DenimJumpers.com in 2003 to fill a vital need they had become acutely aware of: how to sift through all the junk on the Internet and get truly useful information for homeschooling? After a lot of prayer, we felt led to establish this site. Paul brings his ten years of experience in Web publishing with such sites as Heartlight.org, Goshen.net and Crosswalk.com; Sheri brings her hands-on experience as a homeschool mom with four kids. DenimJumpers.com is based in Leander, Texas, just north of Austin.
What's In a Name?
The name was another answer to prayer. We wanted something that was sort of fun, but also representative of the homeschool community as a whole. At least in our circles, the unofficial homeschool mom "uniform" has always been the denim jumper. Go to a homeschool convention and you're likely to see a sea of denim jumpers. It's something we've joked about in a friendly way in the past, and it's become a recognized symbol of homeschooling. So, it seemed perfect to name the site DenimJumpers.
How Do I Get My Site Listed?
On every page in the Directory, you can find a link that says "Add a Link." Just fill out the form and submit it to us. We'll review the link and if meets our inclusion criteria, we'll add it to the directory. Since the process includes a human review of each link, it may take a few days, but that's necessary if we want to keep the site useful.
How Do You Choose Which Links to Include?
Each link submitted is reviewed to determine if it is appropriate for our directory. Primarily, we look for usefulness - the site must have good information that can be used by homeschoolers in the educational process. We try to avoid heavily commercial sites and we greatly prefer free resources. We also try to avoid things like annoying pop-up ads or confusing or outdated sites. Finally, we won't include a site if it has an anti-Christian perspective. While we realize that no one will agree with every site we've chosen to include, we hope you understand and respect the amount of thought and prayer we put into each decision.
Is This Site Safe for My Kids to Use?
While we've made every effort to preview all links, we cannot guarantee that something objectionable couldn't slip through inadvertently. We always recommend that you surf the Internet with your children to be completely safe.
